movies and going out to dinner compared to my inner well-being?"

Nevertheless, she did mention having money difficulties. While working on The Dinner Party, she supported herself by driving a school bus early in the morning. She earns most of her money now by giving lectures and workshops. Only recently she began earning a $250 per month salary from The Dinner Party Project. Last year, she earned about $10,000, but $6,000 went for plane fares and travel expenses, and $1,500 for business expenses in setting up the exhibition, leaving only $2,500 for her own use.

Another problem was that she was home only two months last year. Consequently, she lost a relationship, gave up her cats, and has missed the comfort of her own apartment and. car. Diane said she can't think about all the difficulties; if she did, she would never do anything. She feels that translating Judy's art and philosophy to the business world is a unique and demanding task in itself.

At the conclusion of the interview, I felt I couldn't let her go without asking, "What is it like working for Judy Chicago?" Diane replied, "It is wonderful. She challenges me all the time. You have to keep growing. You can't stay stagnant working with her. She is very demanding in a real wonderful way that pushes other women to work and pushes me. She is a wonderful example and inspiration".

Diane Gelon says what it is all about is hard work. I can't but feel it is also about ecstasy.
